Josh Campbell’s Faith Story

LET US PRAY

◦ Father God, You are always near, but today I am inviting You to come close to me.
◦ Show me how near You are. Here are my burdens—please take them. I am tired of pretending that I can carry them. Remove my fears and replace any heaviness in my life with Your relentless love. Come close to me as I come close to You.

◦ Thank You, Jesus, that You can be trusted. I can be confident in You. Confident that You love me. Confident that You see me. Confident that You have good plans. When I start to put my trust in other places, bring my focus back to You and lead me to trust You more and more . You are trustworthy!

◦ Jesus, thank You for sending Your Spirit to be with me at all times. Because You are with me today, I know I can have freedom in every area of my life. Holy Spirit, help me break loose from everything holding me back. Only You can define who I am—and because of You, I can be free.

◦ Good morning Parker chapel!!
◦ My names Joshua and First and foremost I like to say praise God for his grace and mercy bringing us all here together today and also I’d love to share how my transformation into the Christian I am today began and changed my life for the better.

◦ As a child there was a small baptist church on the same street i grew up on and lived there all the way through high school and remember distinctly being there frequently and how clean , inviting, and pure I would always feel there. Wow how was this place so comfortable for me!

◦ This reminds me of a scripture from the book of Philippians 1:6 which reads “ he that began a good work in You , will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ”. That “good work” refers to the process of Sanctification or Being set apart for holiness and Gods purpose . The initial encounter of church was the beginning of spiritual transformation.

◦ Although as a child I didn’t embrace memorization of the scriptures but very soon as I grew into a teenager , the calling to be in attendance at church grew dramatically and the opportunities were being realized.

◦ So let’s Fast forward to Spring 2023 around May . I’m finally where I needed to be to grow in my sanctification with God. The DRM and im taking my time reading the scriptures, and I find a gem of a scripture in the Book of Genesis which stood out oddly. It reads “ as for you , you meant evil against me , but God meant it for good to bring about a present result , that many people should be kept alive “
◦ So what’s this mean ? Well I can look at my life from a godly perspective and God is the most sovereign his plan is contingent his plan is good. God is still there, He’s still there in the midst of trouble minded good people . My mind was blown away , and it made sense that even if I’m not the most sanctified Christian around God still does his part in my walk with him . He has control over the whole situation. So that reignited his authentic love that laid dormant for some time , his presence in my life today . I started reading my Bible , underlining every verse and everything became so real and true .
◦ I said I hope and pray im rooted deep enough to have a real ongoing relationship to Christ with my Bible, and my new friends. Giving God credible time was the greatest blessing in my life. This started the longest active streak of my sobriety , I could share my little insights with the people around me, and will continue looking at the Longview of eternity with Christ .

◦ 2 Timothy 1:7 says “ For god has not given us a spirit of fear but of power , love and a sound mind. “ with that I know I can talk to anyone with boldness, I can step into the light of god and his purpose for me . I can be a blessing to others , to speak life into them with words of encouragement.

◦ So here we are at church listening to my testimony to hopefully glorify our savior Jesus Christ. Here I am to fully admit my salvation in Christ my passion for Christ and the joy I own being in front of all this congregation. Putting Christ before anything , in everything every situation because “ this Jesus is the stone that was rejected by the builders which has become the cornerstone. There is salvation in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which which we must be saved “

◦ How exciting !! Now I’m really confident that Jesus is the true light of the world . Hebrew’s 10:35-39 reads “ therefore do not throw away your confidence , which has a great reward. For you have need for endurance, so that when you have done the wheel of God, you may receive what is promised see what happened here transformation to a child of God loving Jesus with all my heart mind and soul. Praise God!! I found peace, my family found my hope in Jesus and practically so much beauty and wisdom a life full of blessings upon blessings, a bright Christians, faithful to their very core. Personally, being a Christian didn’t make me a pushover, but it made me someone capable of being counseled . Someone who can stand up through tribulations, forgive others of transgressions someone who can encourage you that makes all the difference and lastly always give God a grateful spirit giving him all the credit and glory because without him I couldn’t confess his wonderful works in my life.
